Nixon have a new range of watches out called Newton. Price at $100 they are a heaps good buy and they look awesome. Two dots replace the minute and hour hands on plain or a bright coloured back plate. They come in a whole range of different colours, i thought id share with you my love for these designs. Great gift idea for christmas There have been a few eyewear lookbooks this summer that have caught my eye (pun not intended). To start off, Karen Walker’s new collection “Celebrate the sun” has a range of both round and rectangular styles, coming in a nice little selection of coloured lenses and frames – cobalt blue, blood orange, tortoise shell, plain pastal colours and black. All of the frames [...] The creation of Sulkenka has been a long but rewarding process for designer Angela Fredericks from East Sydney Tafe. Her stunning pieces are the result of hours and hours of preparation and refinement, aimed at women who thrive on daring and outrageous fashion. Fredericks is not one to cut back on costs, opting to use Ksubi denim which has undergone a specific wash back process to achieve its colour and ensure its quality. 1. A little introduction for our readers who might not know the real Alvin? I’m Alvin Manalo, the designer and creator of Saint Augustine Academy, a music snob and general nice guy. Haha. Summer is pretty much here and for most, the thong (flip flops for all you poms) are the number one choice for footwear for alot of us. The desert boot; pairs perfectly with any summer outfit, from a pair of suit pants too a little less casual pair of jeans. Not too formal, not too casaul but “just [...] Fashion these days is beginning to move into a whole new realm, pushing boundaries of heinous vs. amazing and wearable vs. extreme. I find it exciting seeing the visible results of why these worldwide fashion houses are known as the masters of design. Alexander McQueen is among many of the designers who most definitely need a mention. McQueen’s latest collection, inspired by the textures and skins of mysterious underwater creatures and reptiles, is truly an innovation in the field of fashion design. The silhouettes of these amazing dresses are futuristic in nature, complimented by the digital print patterns, turning any [...] A couple of weeks ago we attended the Ultimo Tafe yearly fashion show. There was definitely no shortage of creativity here as an array of cocktail dresses, tailored suits, formal wear and individual collections paraded down the runway. The show began with the first years’ work which entailed a variety of patterned and tribal influenced designs with a focus on dyed fabrics. After the first years works we were treated with numerous heavily embellished cocktail dresses. The design brief stated that the dresses must be made from five heavily embellished fabrics, two of which had to be made by the [...] Im sure everybody will know what im talking about when i mention the word “DERELICTE”. Yes, Zoolander. The up market, high end fashion label by MUGATU, inspired by hobos and the homeless on the streets. Its not just evident in that movie, but now we are seeing more and more labels “creating” pieces of clothing with holes, rips, tears, unfinished hems or paint thrown all over it. some people might pick up a shirt or a pair of jeans and say something like “what the fuck, $99.95 for a shirt with holes in it” or “these jeans have holes in them” [...] Scott and Quill, two talented, young, inspirational designers who have released their newest range from their aesthetically pleasing label.
The Sydney sider duo have been designing together for over three years and in this time they have evolved their creations into the Twelfth Letter. In their newest spring/summer range we see a variety of over sized both printed and plain tees, singlets and vests. Not just your typical range of shirts or singlets, the Twelfth Letter delivers beautiful pieces with stunning cuts. Hitting shelves this summer.
Stolen Girlfriends Club. For those who are not familiar with this label i beg you too have a look at their latest range; Weapons of Mass Seduction, you will fall in love. This clever trio (Gosling, Moore and Harwood) from NZ have their newest range out and it is inspiring, creative and beautiful to look at. Seeing a large influence from the late 80’s and early 90’s, we see some tastes of fluro, pascal and pale colours, denim shirts and hoodies, tweed style jackets combined with a sparkly bow ties and sequenced tops and lace garments, you will definitely be standing out in these threads.
